Right Leadership Critical to Implementation of Developmental Programs – World Bank Country Director
The Country Director, World Bank Nigeria Office, Shubham Chaudhuri has identified right leadership as critical to the implementation of developmental programs that brings value and benefit to the people.

The Country Director stated this on Thursday in Jos during a dinner hosted in his honour, his team and ACReSAL team by the Executive Governor of Plateau state, his Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang after the official launch of the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) World Bank supported project in Plateau state.
“From everything I have seen, and heard so far from you, Your Excellency, I think the people of Plateau will benefit from this project’’
He noted that the World Bank is in Plateau to support him in critical projects especially those he wants to leave as his legacy. He disclosed that there are no World Bank programs, rather Plateau state projects that the World Bank have the privilege of supporting.
The Country Director stated that the World Bank support projects across Nigeria and they do see differences on how well and robust they are implemented and value of financing that the World Bank provided which the stakeholders will eventually repay.
He thanked the Governor for hosting the World Bank and ACReSAL team in spite of his busy schedules and applauded him on his getting stronger in realizing his vision for Plateau state even in the face of challenges.
In his key note address, the Executive governor of Plateau state, his excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang warned that all World Bank interventions are loans that the people of Plateau must repay and that is why we can not afford to slack.
“We cannot afford to be irresponsible, we must be deliberate in getting value for money so that there will be justification for receiving further interventions,” the Governor said.
He pleaded on behalf of the government that everyone working any of the government team/task must be put to task and advised his team to tighten their belt to deliver on the expectation of Plateau people.
The Governor Noted that Plateau state has the potential and they will do the needful to reposition the state among the community of states in Nigeria.
“I want Plateau to be the best in Nigeria and we will try our best to leap-frog on the global best practices to advance the course of development in Plateau,” the governor added.
